October 2017: Coming out, should you or should you not?

October 11 was National Coming Out Day in the US. Days before, Etta Ng, the 17-year-old daughter of Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan, made headlines after she came out as a lesbian on Instagram saying, "In case no one got the memo, I’m gay."

Coming out for most people however is not an one-time affair but an ongoing process. When, how and to whom should one come out to -- should one decide to do so? This Women's Nite over a potluck dinner, we'll share our experiences and things one should know when we're ready to come out.

September 2017: Sex, intimacy and relationships

Although sex is everywhere in the mass media, it can be a difficult subject to broach with a new partner or a not-so-new partner.

What are your own expectations?
Is intimacy the same as sex?
Is lesbian bed death a real thing?
What's safer sex? And how do you talk to your partner about it?

Join us this Women's Nite for an evening of a potluck dinner, and a frank and open discussion on the topic.

August 2017: Legal talk: Plan for your future

While Singapore does not allow or recognise same-sex marriage, what legal avenues can you and your partner utilise to safeguard certain aspects of your and your partner's lives? How can two parties buy a HDB flat or other property? If your partner has children or if you want to have/ adopt children, what are the laws around that?

It is as important as ever for LGBT individuals to know how and why the existing community law applies to their families, and be empowered with the information to protect themselves under the law.

Join us at the next Women's Nite where lawyers Indulekshmi Rajeswari and Deryne Sim, the editor and contributor of Legal Guidebook for LGBT Couples & Families in Singapore respectively, will give a talk and answer your questions.

The first 10 attendees will receive a copy of the guide. The e-book can be downloaded for free here: https://www.singaporelgbtlaw.com/home/guidebook-e-book/, do read the guide prior to attending in case you've any clarifications.
